Our Mother's Day cup, now in stores, marks the beginning of a great relationship with a great company. Welcome KeepCup to LostCoffee. Since the first days of the truck Scott and I have been huge fans of the Australian based company. They now have a US distribution facility allowing us to get them in large scale numbers.
- Low embodied energy in manufacture - The resources required to manufacture plastic are relatively low, this means that you only have to use it 15 times to break even with paper cups in terms of the energy manufacture and use.
- Lightweight and unbreakable- For you to carry our product around it has to be lightweight, ergomonic and unbreakable.
- Colorful. - The ability to choose a unique, personal colourway for yourself increases the desirability of the KeepCup, and increases your likelihood of remembering and reusing.
- Dishwasher safe - Makes cleaning easy.
- Recyclable at end of life - The KeepCup is made from single component materials to facilitate recycling at end of life. Polypropylene is being targeted as a great material capable of being recycled into consumer goods. There are lots of clever people doing exciting things in this space.
- Weight and freight - Being lightweight and stackable has a significant impact on the environmental costs of shipping and freight. The ability to ship components for local assembly also decreases the environmental impact of the KeepCup.
Look for more offerings from KeepCup at LostCoffee in the coming months.
It was July of 1995 that Nicole and I moved to Castle Rock. It's hard to believe that was 19 years ago. Little did we know then we would become such great friends and business partners with Scott and Candis. They moved here in early 2003 to start their family.
It warms our hearts to see the town keep such a wonderful downtown area while giving us some of the "big box" conveniences of the metro area.
Not sure about you, but these two families believe this list got it wrong by three spots. :) However, it is wonderful to see our "little" town get some national recognition.
Looks like everyone has heard about our new salads and hot sandwiches, even the cave dwellers. Lindsey at our Perry Street store was brave enough to head outside and grab a quick photo of this little guy. He was peeking in the window. No need to worry he took off after hearing the "No Shoes No Shirt No Wings No Service" policy. #BatmanLovesLC
Riding at 6pm on Mondays at this park is our favorite. John and Scott stick to this run with all the kids who show up.
Parents and PTO leaders - It's that time of year when we receive lots of requests to bring Brewtus, the Cofffee Truck, to serve teachers at various schools throughout the district.
With that in mind please head to our "Event Request Page" if you are interested in booking Brewtus for an event at your school. This will ensure you reserve a spot before they fill up and you miss an opportunity to provide your teachers with this great treat!
How many of you have met Wayne? He can usually be found in the morning at the counter of our Perry Street store. Wayne gets the controversial, Super Bowl ad for Coca Cola ad started. He's the cowboy with the white horse in the first three frames. He also is shown towards the end drinking a bottle Coca Cola So if it's about 9:15am and you're around 4th and Perry stop in and say hello to Wayne.
The last few weeks have been tough on high school students in Castle Rock. We'd like to do something to help.
Parents, grab your high schooler and hop in the car. On Friday and Saturday after 3pm when you buy a drink your high schooler's drink is on us. Just have them show their school ID to the staff and we'll cover their drink.
Have seat, take a few minutes, and reconnect.
...again Friday and Saturday after 3pm, one free drink per parent/student transaction please. :)
It’s early but be sure to get out to the DCS Montessori Charter School’s Annual Spring Event. It’s April 25, 2014. A few items from LostCoffee will be up for silent auction. We donated (2) $25 Gift Cards & (2) 1lb bags of our HouseBlend coffee.
A few weeks ago we installed a new cash register/holder for our iPad and have been getting a lot of requested about who makes it. As most you know we have been using the Square app as our primary point of sale for over two years now. It's a wonderful product and since it's move to an actual iPad app, a little over a year ago, it's been easier to integrate into the stores.
Using an iPad as your main point of sale can be a little tricky. The biggest challenge is finding a quality stand that will hold up to the abuse. TinkeringMonkey.com has such a stand. Not only is it functional, but beautify.
The stand is handmade from Baltic birch plywood and designed specifically to accommodate our Square credit card reader. They an option for a slightly more expensive glossy acrylic edition if wood isn't your thing. Whether you choose wood or acrylic, you get the free option to laser engrave your name, logo, or whatever you want emblazoned on your stand.
Mike and Paula do wonderful work. We've been using the stands in both store for over two weeks now and they are holding up nicely.
We've had a busy year opening two stores. Lot's of exciting new products are coming this year and here's something we've been working on for some time now. If you've followed us since the days when we were just a truck you know we've spent some time at bike races. Also we spend a fair amount of time on our bikes, whether it's running errands, riding with the family, group rides with the local club or a race here and there.
Last year the local club launched rides from our stores, and on most sunny days you can usually find customers bikes parked outside one of our locations. It's something about bikes and coffee that pair well.
With that said, we are launching our brand new kits for the 2013 year. Designed by our buddy, Hutch, and his team over at Primal. We've chosen their best products with some great designs. We think you'll be proud to wear our kit whether at your local crit, group ride or endurance race.
We're taking orders immediately. Visit our OnlineStore where you can choose your kit size and place your order. Once we meet the minimum order quantity we'll place the order. Six weeks later you'll be cruising in your sleek, new LostCoffee kit.
So make sure you're the sharpest looking rider next time you go out. Go here and place your order today.
Thanks for all your support and we look forward to serving and riding with you this year.

LostCoffee had the privilege to partner with a local Castle Rock resident this weekend to help send blankets and other supplies to the children affected by the Sandy Hook shooting. Jennifer Minor was able to connect with a local congregation in Connecticut who had a family member lost that day. With the help of the leadership there, they set a goal of sending 15 blankets to the children at the school. Because of the overwhelming response of Castle Rock residents they are going to send over 100 blankets and other items to the affected families and children.
LostCoffee Limelight was able to provide 1200sq ft of workspace for the volunteers. Both the Perry St store and the Limelight location will be a donation location for those who would like to contribute money. All money will be sent directly to the local Connecticut congregation, a 501c organization, ensuring the funds are distributed appropriately to those who remain in need.
LostCoffee is thankful for the opportunity to serve our community and reach out to those affected.
